    This is a very early US Lighthouse hat  insignia from around the 1940's US Coast Guard in 1939 the lighthouse service merged with the US Coast Guard which was now responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of all lighthouses, keepers from the lighthouses where keep on as civilian keepers working for the US Coast Guard and in some cases civilian and Coast Guard personnel worked together on many lighthouses.this hat insignia is from the great lakes area. This is a original insignia made for lighthouse keepers.many times keepers made their own or has them hand made
    there was A insignia maker on Washington Island Wi, being a 3 year lighthouse keeper as a member of the US Coast Guard I did work with  original lighthouse keepers worked on several island lighthouses.buying in as is used hand made condition.
