    Description

    RHODESIA
    1910 Double Head
    £1     RSC-A   Perf. 14.
    Long Gash III head plate.
Pos. 38 (FP): "Horizontal scratches in N margin above the WVC."
    Fine colors and appearance.
Structurally sound.  A very nice example!
CTO cancel SALISBURY 27 MAY 13  -  rated extremely rare.
I know of only one other example of this printing in CTO -
the first being offered by Gibbs, 1987 which was later sold
as Lot 560 at the Baillie sale, 2006.
RSC-A has the portraits that glow orange under filtered, SW, UV light.
    CTO Cancels
Due to the demonetization of the BSAC stamps
in 1924, a deal was made by which cancellers
were manufactured with specific dates to cancel
the remainder of the stock on hand in London.
For this reason, stamps with these cancels are
called "the remainders" or the CTO's (Cancelled-
To-Order).  They are not considered postally
used in any true sense, but they are eminently
collectible and part of the Double Head story.
There is no specific catalogue value placed on
them; we have listed their relative scarcity.
For the £1 RSC-A, the following configuration
    of cancels has been recorded:

*RSC classification values are based on a number of factors including known realizations at various online and public auctions both past and present.
The SG Catalogue prices are what you would expect to pay if you walked into the Gibbons retail store.
These prices are invariably higher than general market prices.
    (See table.)
Condition of stamp will affect the value either up or down.
Plated material, especially the more sought-after positions, often attracts higher prices (10% - 50%).
Market influences (demand and supply) will affect the market value.
Market values offered are one man's general guideline rather than a definitive and undisputed real value.
    Expect updates.
    Input always appreciated and desired.
